We issue domestic Building Permit Approval in Victoria for Class 1a, 1b and 10a. Class 10b structures are only viewed on a case by case basis only if it also involves the construction of Class 1a buildings.

In summary, CH Group’s Building Permit Approval services includes, but not limited to the following:

  • Review design documentation against the relevant provisors of the BCA.
  • Providing BCA advice and guidance throughout the design and construction stages.
  • Undertaking mandatory inspections.
  • Issuing of Building Permit Approval.
  • Issuing of Certificate of Final Inspection or Occupancy Permit.

Domestic buildings are classified under the Building Code of Australia as follows:
Class 1a – a single dwelling being:-

  • A detached house or
  • One or more attached dwellings, each being a building, separated by a fire-resisting wall.

Class 1b - a boarding house, guest house, hostel or the like with a total floor area not exceeding 300m² and 12 persons who would ordinarily be resident of.

Class 10a – a non-habitable building being a private garage, carport, shed or the like. Which is not located above or below another dwelling or another Class of building other than a private garage.

Class 10b – a structure being a fence, mast, antenna, retaining or free standing wall, swimming pool, or the like.
